Mr Darcy Loses the Plot at Blackwood Miners Institute

Fancy seeing Mr Darcy as you’ve never seen him before? Never had the experience of witnessing the sublime silliness of LipService? Well, here’s your perfect opportunity to enjoy a comedy classic at Blackwood MIners’ Institute this November!

Jane Austen is dreaming up Darcy, a proud, lip curling, handsome creation in very tight pants. But then a door squeaks, a visitor approaches and Jane hastily hides her work. Now left to his own devices, Darcy embroiders his own storyline whilst his creator embroiders her doilies.

Deliciously tongue-in-cheek, the world of the female writer is deconstructed in a hilarious parody mash-up.

The set features quilt work specially created by community groups for this production. To get quilting visit www.lipservicetheatre.co.uk

Brilliance by Farnham Maltings Theatre Company at Rudry Parish Hall

1948 and 1963, winter. Everyone is gathering in the village hall.

Lightening has struck the hall roof.  Mrs Atkinson has called the repairman –a man who can fix a creaking door, chimneys that smoked. And in he comes with his daughter, bright blue eyes full of brilliance, like an animal in from the woods.

Long after its arrival in the city, the slow process of rural electrification is starting to illuminate every corner and crevice of village life. As the dark evenings hold us in, 240 volts of alternating current and the humble electric light bulb allows us to gather and sing long into the night.

Brilliance is a celebration of our ability to connect and find the light in a bright new world.

From the company that brought you It’s A Wonderful LifeThe Iranian Feast and Yørgjin Oxo, we now bring you Brilliance a show with music made especially for village halls.
