Lower Machen Festival Milestone Concert **Sold Out**

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Lower Machen Festival in 2017 – and to look forward to our next exciting phase in 2018 – we are delighted to present a very special Easter Saturday Celebrity Recital on 31 March 2018, at Rudry Parish Hall.

Soprano Elin Manahan Thomas and harpist Catrin Finch are among the most celebrated and popular Welsh artists to establish enviable international reputations in recent years. They share exuberant personalities, peerless standards in their respective fields and an excitingly refreshing approach to a wide-ranging repertoire. Rarely able to perform together in concert we are thrilled and delighted that they are coming together for this unique milestone Lower Machen Festival event.

We are privileged to use Rudry Parish Hall in Caerphilly for this special occasion. It is set in a beautiful rural location – yet within easy reach of Caerphilly, Newport and Cardiff. With a ravishing picture-window view, first-class facilities and ample parking Rudry Parish Hall can claim to be home to a new “Best-Kept-Secret” of a venue.

Elin and Catrin are preparing a bespoke and richly-varied programme ranging from the haunting lute-songs of Dowland and the Elizabethans to some specially arranged folk songs, Welsh favourites and plenty of light-hearted surprises!

To complement the central recital, audience members will also be treated to some tuneful madrigals and assorted songs from the Lower Machen Festival Chorale.

As we celebrate the joy of music together, we will also be launching the 2018 festival programme to be held at St Michael and All Angels’ Church and Rudry Parish Hall between 19 and 24 June.

We look forward to welcoming you when doors open at 6pm for a canapes and drinks reception. Tickets are limited so pre-booking is essential!

Bring your broken or damaged item and our volunteer repairers will try to fix it. Repairs are free and you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee (and maybe even a cheeky slice of cake) while you wait.  We can also show you how it is done too! The best way to reuse and recycle there is!
Drop us a message on Facebook and we will do our best to ensure a repairer is available to fix your item.
On offer will be basic bicycle maintenance, electronics and electrical fixings, sewing, woodworking… We will have a look at most things, except microwaves as they are too dangerous :)Do you think you could be a volunteer repairer?  More fixers are always welcome. If you would like to be part of the Repair Cafe Team, please contact us now to volunteer your services!
