Caerphilly Library will be hosting a free talk by Wales Gene Park on DNA, forensics and crime. The talk will especially be looking at DNA fingerprinting and the national DNA database.

Spooky Tales at Caerphilly Library (with follow on book signing)

This Hallow’s Eve things are getting spooky in the library with local authors Lynda Nash and Melanie Smith coming in to tell you some spine tingling stories to get you in the mood for Halloween!

Recommended for children 7+

There will also be a books signing that afternoon of the new exciting book The Dettention Gang. Where both Lynd and Melanie will be happy to sign your copies of their new book!

The King’s DNA. Richard III: From Car Park to Cathedral.

Richard III, the last Yorkest king and the last British king to die in battle,  is one of the country’s most interesting monarchs.

This talk follows the story of how a skeleton found  in a car park in Leicester came to eventually be identified as  King Richard III.  Wales Gene Park’s describing how DNA was used to identify this skeleton as the lost body of the controversial king.

This is a free public talk at Caerphilly library and is open to all!

Life in Nelson’s Navy


Richard Williams, of the Caerphilly Local History Society, is ready to explain all in a fantastic free talk at Caerphilly Library this October.  So,  how many sailors actually were involved in battle?  What diseases affected the sailors? How many sailors died at sea defending their country?
