Public Meeting with Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood at Van Community Centre

Plaid Cymru Leader is visiting Van Community Centre in Lansbury Park in order to meet with the people in the area and listen to their aspirations for Lansbury Park, Caerphilly and Wales.

 

The meeting will be the local launch of he pamphlet “The Change We Need” and is part of her tour of Wales to discuss the ideas contained in the pamphlet.

The Big Phill Comedy Night at Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall

Yeah – The Big Phill Comedy Night is back!

Also, not only is there the chance of seeing five top comedians for a tenner, if we sell over 100 tickets before the event, we’re going to throw in a free drink* too!

We’re pleased to announce that our MC will  be the fantastic Lorna Pritchard, fresh from her monthly sellout comedy shows in Cardiff.

Joining Lorna, will be the amazing Andrew Rutledge, the heart warming Col Howarth and the hilarious Karen Sherrard. Our headliner for the evening will be none other than the super funny award-winning Simon Emanuel!

Summer Holiday at Newbridge Memo

What better way to get ready for the summer than to go and see the Cliff Richard classic Summer Holiday at Newbridge Memo?

This will be a dementia friendly, relaxed viewing. This means that the Newbridge Memo will providing a relaxed setting which offers quieter volume levels, lighted seating area during the screenings and an accommodating environment. The Newbridge Memo dementia viewings are also suitable for those with special needs or disabilities.

 

Doors open at 10am and the film starts at 10.30am.

Blackwood Musical Theatre Society presents Fiddler on the Roof this April!

Blackwood Musical Theatre Society return to the ‘Stute with their Springtime spectacular.  This year they tell the story of Tevye and his daughters in the life-affirming Fiddler on the Roof.  Full of classic tunes, this Broadway smash hit musical is sure to have you humming long after you’ve left the theatre.

Heritage Tour at Newbridge Memo

Why not visit one of Wales’ most iconic buildings, the Grade II* listed Newbridge Memorial Hall this April? 

This amazing ‘Heritage Experience’ is an immersive journey through time, telling the story of the creation, demise and final restoration of this beautiful building.. This visionary building was created by the miners of Newbridge and dedicated to the men who lost their lives in WWI. The whole experience is designed to bring you closer to a community and its desires, ambitions and dreams.

Your unique journey we will take you back in time around ‘The Memo’. You will have the chance to sit back, relax and take in our short film in the beautiful Auditorium and explore time’s ghostly footprints in the elegant Ballroom. Your experience will end with a cup of tea or coffee and the chance for you to have your say on what you think is important for the future of the building.

Tour starts at 1.30pm and booking is required.

Ticket Price £5 per person including tea/coffee. Subject to availability.

Regular Heritage Experience Tours are available throughout the year (on the third Monday of every month) and are suitable for all ages from 10+. The ‘Experience’ lasts up to 70 minutes. There are stairs throughout the route but alternative routes are available for those with limited mobility; please raise any requirements with Newbridge Memo at the time of booking.

Tiny Tots Crafts at Cwmcarn Forest Centre

Join Cwmcarn Forest this Easter for a fantastic tiny tot craft session!

 

“Bring along your tiny tot for some Easter Craft fun. Today we will be making the Easter Bunny using paper plates and cotton wool.”

On Thursday 12 April 2018, Cwmcarn Forest Centre will be running three tiny toy craft sessions; 10.30am to 11.15am and 11.30am to 12.15pm.

Cwmcarn Forest Center invite you to this fun crafting sessions this Easter – Easter Chick Flower Pot making!

 

“Come along and make a beautiful Easter decoration in this fun workshop. We will be decorating a flower pot and wooden spoon and turning it into a fluffy Easter Chick and surrounding it with wild flower seeds for colour.”

There are three sessions available on Wednesday 11th April; 11am to 11.45am; 12.15pm to 1pm and 1.30pm to 2.15pm.
