It is often said that for a sailor in the ‘Age of Sail’, life was hard and was more boredom than battle, but what was it actually like to be part of Nelson’s navy?
Richard Williams, of the Caerphilly Local History Society, is ready to explain all in a fantastic free talk at Caerphilly Library this October. So, how many sailors actually were involved in battle? What diseases affected the sailors? How many sailors died at sea defending their country?
