What better way to celebrate the new revamped Big Cheese, than with the first ever Caerphilly Fringe?
Celebrating local music and talent, this free event will be mainly based at Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall and Castle Court Shopping Centre. There will also be events at The Green Lady and 13 Market Street.
The events at Castle Court will run from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on the Sunday. As well as the fantastic Castle Court Craft and Food Market (celebrating the best of local produce), there will also be performances in the bandstand from a range of local acts including Ruby Kelly, Dance Unity and Scott Heaten. Alcoholic beverages will available to purchase.
Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall events will run from 11.30am-5.30pm each day. Where they will be showcasing fantastic local talent. The Guardians of Public Morality will kick off the event at 12noon on the Saturday (hopefully on the flat roof weather permitting). The other events going on inside over the weekend will include Grey Javu, Rachel Matthews, Nutz and Boltz, Half Tidy, Poets Corner, One-Act Play, Calling Time amongst others. It is free to set all bands and and refreshments will be available to purchase.
The Green Lady will also be hosting the fantastic Megaday Unplugged event starting at 7pm on the Saturday and will be raising money for the amazing Velindre charity.
13 Market Street will be hosting The Big Cheesy Disco Night on Friday 26th July and a live music night on the Saturday. Then on Sunday the 28th, they will be hosting the grand final of ‘The Valleys’ Got Talent’ with guest judges January Rees, comedian Justin Crowe resident vocalist and Richard Rees. They will also be hosting a gin festival all weekend
There will also be free crafts for children at Caerphilly Library, where children aged 7-11 can also enter a space poetry competition.
